چکیده
Mechanized timber harvesting is cost efficient and highly productive. However, mechanized operations are often associated with several environmental problems, including soil compaction disturbance. Soil impedes air circulation between the atmosphere, which in turn results increased concentrations of CO2 within pores. In this study, we investigated impact forest machine traffic on conditions to determine efflux (Fc), (Sc). Field measurements included bulk density (BD), temperature (ST), water content (SWC), Fc, Sc over a 3-year period at specific thinning operation site (Hwacheon-gun) Gangwon Province Korea. To assess impacts traffic, established four machine-treatment plots (MT) characterized by different geographical conditions. The revealed that BD, Sc, SWC significantly disturbed track areas (p < 0.05). Furthermore, reduced Fc values were measured soil-compacted (machine disturbed) tracks comparison undisturbed (control) areas. Variations SWC, among MT plots. Additionally, areas, lower higher obtained compacted high temperatures.

Controlling Factors of Soil CO2 Efflux in Pinus yunnanensis across Different Stand Ages
The characteristics of soil respiration (Rs) across different stand ages have not been well investigated. In this study, we identified temporal variation of Rs and its driving factors under three nature forest stands (e.g. 15-yr-old, 30-yr-old, and 45-yr-old) of Pinus yunnanensis in the Plateau of Mid-Yunnan, China. No consistent tendency was found on the change of Rs with the stand ages. Rs wa...
متن کاملThe influence of environmental, soil carbon, root, and stand characteristics on soil CO2 efflux in loblolly pine (Pinus taeda L.) plantations located on the South Carolina Coastal Plain
While the effect of soil temperature and moisture on soil CO2 efflux (Ec) has been widely investigated, the relationship between Ec and soil carbon (C), root, and stand parameters has not been comprehensively examined or quantified across extensive spatial and temporal scales. We measured Ec in loblolly pine (Pinus taeda L.) stands located on the South Carolina Coastal Plain across sites, seaso...
متن کاملSoil Co2 Efflux and Soil Carbon Content as Influenced by Thinning in Loblolly Pine Plantations on the Piedmont of Virginia
The thinning of loblolly pine plantations has a great potential to influence the fluxes and storage of carbon within managed stands. This study looked at the effects of thinning on aboveground carbon and mineral soil carbon storage, 14-years after the thinning of an 8-year-old loblolly pine plantation on the piedmont of Virginia. The study also examined soil respiration for one year following t...

Interpretation and evaluation of combined measurement techniques for soil CO 2 efflux: Discrete surface chambers and continuous soil CO 2 concentration probes" [1] Soil CO 2 efflux is a large respiratory flux from terrestrial ecosystems and a critical component of the global carbon (C) cycle. Lack of process understanding of the spatiotemporal controls on soil CO 2 efflux limits our ability to ...
